wi c'est vrai qu'elle a beaucoup de succès en angleterre surtout, je crois que les ventes de simply deep en angleterre representaient près de la moitié des ventes totales

Nouvelle critique de l'album :
Kelly Rowland Listening Session:
“My Story: Kelly Rowland” (SONY)
Destiny has been fulfilled as Beyonce, Kelly & Michelle have successfully bowed out on top of the game. Now the true test of time remains as fans and critics alike eagerly await the future of each member’s solo careers.
I was lucky enough to get invited to a recent listening session for Kelly Rowland and here is my review on how things went down:
Kelly fans wait no longer, as Kelly has packed a few punches with little delivery. As much as I want to give this album a great review, I can’t. I have to be one-hundred percent honest as I always am with my reviews and interviews.
Let me first build the anticipation by stating that Kelly is very beautiful in person. Personable, sweet, chill and charming are the four best words to describe this homie from around the way. She floated with ease as she introduced each song with descriptive storytelling and vivid imaging. While concerned with Kelly’s bad luck with relationships, she definitely lets the listener take a peek at her personal life as a woman scorned. Most of her past relationships have turned for the worst and Kelly is the first to admit to that. “Still in Love with My Ex,” a track written by Kelly Rowland is obviously about her past relationship with football heavyweight Roy Williams. “Better without you,” “What It Do,” and “Can’t Do It Again” are all prime songs centered around Kelly’s heartbreak hotel.
Ms. Rowlands sophomore release My Story: Kelly Rowland, is due to hit stores on June 11 via Columbia/Sony Urban Music. While much of the album deals with Kelly’s relationships, the album is not a carbon-copy of Mary J. Blige’s No More Drama. Kelly has plenty of up-tempo songs for those who want to bop their heads and shake it, jiggle it. With tracks like “Work Her Man” (Prod. by Big Tank, written by Les), Kelly speaks to the ladies on this track letting them know that should “watch their man.” During the writing process for “Better without You,” Kelly said “I thought I always needed a man there by my side. But I quickly learned that after continually getting hurt, I didn’t.” This track was produced by Kenny & Charlie, two new upcoming producers from L.A. “What It Do” also reflects on a past relationship. On this track, Kelly calls her ex after the two broke up and then realizes that she mad a big mistake by calling him again. “Can’t Do It Again” was another track previewed which I can say I really enjoyed.
“Ghetto” which was produced & written by Tank (the singer), is still a work in progress. The final version is set to feature Snoop Dogg. “The Show” is another album cut produced by Tank, written by Kelly & Tank. This is a nice mid-tempo track in which Kelly describes Tank as a “singing fool.” Another track that Kelly co-wrote is “My Every Thought is you.” “By the time the song was completed, I had come to realize that I was over the guy that the song was written about” says Kelly.
Throughout the album there are several tracks that sound very Brandy-ish. As we all know Brandy has a very distinct sound and style and while I’m not sure if Kelly duplicated Brandy’s style purposely or not (the two are no longer friends), it definitely makes you have a greater appreciation for Brandy listening to her inspired tracks. “Flashback,” which was produced by Kenny & Charlie, is a perfect example of what I’m trying to explain. It sounds like a left over track that Brandy didn’t use during the making of Aphrodisiac. To take some of the heat off Kelly, she’s not the only artist that has attempted to emulate Brand Norwood’s style. Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, Toya, and new-comers Megan Rochelle, Mila J and Cassie all are guilty of trying to duplicate the “Brandy sound.”
“Tell Me” is a song produced by a new producer Flinstone, also from L.A. The song has an up-tempo Arabian feel to it. Other tracks on the album include “Just Me,” “Back On,” and “This Is Love.” Kelly’s camp considers “This Is Love” to be of her strongest vocal performances. While Kelly sounds good on the track, it’s nothing spectacular. When asked whether or not there would be a new version of “Bad Habit” on the album, Kelly replied “No.” “I was thinking of putting it on my album but then I decided that I wanted only new material on this follow-up record” says Kelly. Kelly recently recorded a new track two weeks ago called “Mr. Postman” produced by Big Tank (Christina Aguilera), which she says “is hot to def.”
Mr. Matthew Knowles and fashion forward Fonsworth Bentley (who is currently working on his debut album), also made an appearance at the listening session. When asked for comment, Mr. Knowles said “the album speaks for itself as far as content goes.” “But I want to know, who the hell is the ex?”
All in all with everything said, I was not really that impressed with Kelly’s sophomore effort. For her sake I hope she goes back into the studio to record better material. While it is a shy away from her debut album Simply Deep (this album is way more urban), fans will still be disappointed as Ms. Rowland has not quite figured out how to deliver the goods. I am happy though to see Tank (not to be confused with Big Tank) back on the scene as he wrote and produced a lot on the album. Tank’s vocals also sounded really great.

Re-Edit : IIL PARAIT QUE L'ALBUM DE KELLY ROWLAND SERAIT REPORTE EN FEVRIER 2007!!
