Aries (UBG): Tell me about your new album "Miss Kelly" and who is Miss Kelly and how is she different from Kelly of Destiny's Child?
Kelly Rowland: Dang that's like five questions all in one (laughs). Well let's see, the new CD took me a year and a half to record. It's really a great CD and really hot! I got some great producers on it like Scott Scorch, Polo Da Don, some new producers out of Los Angeles, Kenny and Chad and let's see Soulshock and Karlin. Some great writers like Sean Garret, Solange and of course myself. The difference from DC is that this is me, this is Kelly Rowland, not Destiny's Child.
Aries (UBG): What do you want your fans to walk away with, after they hear "Miss Kelly?"
Kelly Rowland: When they listen to this album, I want them to walk away hearing that I'm a woman now. A new woman. I'm so happy and excited about this album. When people hear this album, I want them to hear me for me. Not Kelly from Destiny's Child, but Kelly Rowland. Don't get me wrong, I love and respect Destiny's Child, but with this album I want to stand on my own.
Aries (UBG): Still In Love w/ My Ex, is a fan favorite as well as mine, are there any plans to release that single in the near future?
Kelly Rowland: Really, you like that one?
Aries (UBG): I love it to death, I love the adlibs you do towards the end of it.
Kelly Rowland: Hello! (Laughs), I think I got a singer on the line (laughs)? Do I?
Aries (UBG): (Laughs) I do a little somethin', somethin'.
Kelly Rowland: I knew it (laughs)! But thank you so much! I love that song as well. Still In love w/ My Ex was actually the fourth song I recorded for this project. I wrote it as well, it was one my best writing experiences ever. I was in the studio with Soulshock and Karlin and we had finished a song. I like that song as well, but I wanted to do something else with them, because I'm such a huge fan of their work. So they played that track and I just loved it! Then all of a sudden I just started singing (singing "still in love with my ex") I was like where did that come from (laughs)? So I wrote the lyrics and it all just flowed so good. I was thinking maybe I'm giving up a little too much info in the song (laughs), but I love it. Hopefully it will be a single.
Aries (UBG): With Destiny's Child and Beyonce' being so successful over the years, do you feel any added pressure with releasing your sophomore solo album?
Kelly Rowland: Nope! The reason being is because I'm a different person. Destiny's Child is one thing and Bee is herself. I'm myself. I want it to be successful and all, but I honestly didn't feel any added pressure this time around. I just went in to make a great album. So now all I can do is put it in God's hands and hope it's a success. And I'm going to promote the hell out of it (laughs)!
Aries (UBG): Have you had the opportunity to congratulate LeToya on all of her recent success and do you have a favorite song from her CD?
Kelly Rowland: Oh yeah, I have actually! I did last year, but I got a chance to do it again this morning. I did a phone interview with a station down in Texas and she was in the studio. We spoke briefly. I congratulated her on everything and she wished me all the best with this project. It was really nice, I'm so happy for her. My favorite song, hum I have to be honest. So let's see, I'll say Torn. I really love that song. I love when she sings "apart of me" (laughs). But I also like the one she has with the rapper & the other one she had a video for (She Don't).
Aries (UBG): What do you think is the biggest misconception about Miss Kelly?
Kelly Rowland: Wow let's see, the biggest misconception about me? Well that's hard Aries because you know opinions are like A holes, everybody has one. But let's see, I honestly don't know right now. That's a hard question, let's talk more and come back to that one (laughs).
Aries (UBG): What is it like to be Kelly Rowland outside of the music industry? What do you enjoy doing when the cameras aren't rolling?
Kelly Rowland: I just love to sit back on the beach and just chill! Or just chill at home or at my best friend Barbara's house and sit back and drink margarita's (laughs). Oh I love to cook also. Well I try (laughs), I like watching the Food Channel to get ideas on stuff to make.
Aries (UBG): You have impressed me more than once with your acting skills, when will we see you on the big or small screen again?
Kelly Rowland: Well first off thank you! And hopefully it will be really soon. I have to work out some things and just see what happens. I've had to turn down something's unfortunately, because of working on the album and this has been my main focus. I do believe however,. what is meant for me is for me and what's not, isn't. So when it's the right role for Kelly, I'll be doing it.
Aries (UBG): Do you have any touring plans for the summer?
Kelly Rowland: Yes! I want to be on a tour so bad! I can't wait. I've already been working on routines (laughs) and just the whole thing. I'm so excited about touring. Nothing is confirmed yet, but once it is, you'll know about it. I'm looking forward to doing shows.
Aries (UBG): Any last words for your fans?
Kelly Rowland: Yeah, thank you so much for the support you guys have been showing this project. I know the dates have switched and been changing, but you guys have stayed by my side and I appreciate that. I read what you guys say on my site as well as this one and other sites and the love is just so wonderful, so again thank you. And thank you as well Aries for your continued support, I really do appreciate it!
Aries (UBG): It was a pleasure, continue success and I can't wait to hear "Miss Kelly."
Kelly Rowland: Thank you, I have to ask you is your real name Aries?
Aries (UBG): Yes it's my real name (laughs).
Kelly Rowland: That is so cool! Is that your sign?
Aries (UBG): Yep and my birthday is in two weeks.
Kelly Rowland: Really! Wow that is so cool (laughs). I think when I have a child, I'm going to have to think of naming them that (laughs). But it has to be like Aries, it can't be like Sagittarius or anything (laughs).
Aries (UBG): (Laughs), definitely, please do that! Continue success Kelly!
Kelly Rowland: Thanks Aries, bye!

Re: Interviews (Nouvel interview très interessante p.5)
Bon je vais quand même mettre l'interview :
Interview Kelly Rowland
Comment tu as fait ?
(rires)
Tu as d’autres projets côté cinéma ?
Oui, oui, oui, oui !!!

INTERVIEW POUR SO URBAN
Welcome to London! Long time no see!
Thanks! I got a love for the UK –I come here like it’s my second home. I haven’t been here for a year but I’ve been talking to the label and management about when I’m coming to Europe, because for me it’s the main focus. Yes, it’s great to have success in the States but Europe has shown me a lot of love in my solo career.
We hear you’re a fan of Top Shop?
I was just in Top Shop yesterday – my first stop is always Top Shop. I heard it got a little bit more expensive though. Someone was telling me about another store but I was like “Whatever, I’m going to Top Shop.”
You look amazing and seem to be more confident. It seems like there a new Kelly in town?
It’s not so much a new Kelly, just a more mature, coming into her own kind of Kelly. I think that with this record, I really knew what I wanted. With the last record I felt I was really rushed to be honest with you, because we had the success of Dilemma with Nelly so the label wanted to push the record out to ride off of the success of it. So I was forced to do a record in two weeks whereas with this record, I’ve been working on it for a year and a half. I’ve basically put my all into it, and it’s been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The writing, the recording, the collaborating with different artists like Eve, Tank and Snoop so I felt like it was more me.
What do we find out about Kelly on this LP?
With this record you get to know me as an individual, you get to know my thoughts. I allowed myself to be vulnerable on this record too. It’s almost like reading a journal, or sneaking a peak at my journal because there’s a lot of my thoughts in this record. I put me in here [pointing at the album].
There are some thing’s I wouldn’t normally talk about on here or things that people wouldn’t normally admit to; like I have this one record on there called I’m Still In Love With My Ex. I let Beyonce and Michelle hear it and they were like, ‘You admitted to that?’ I was like I feel like a lot of people go through that and it’s kinda embarrassing to yourself. Like what the hell is wrong with me? It’s just a matter of admitting it.
How did the collaboration with Tank and Snoop come about on the track Ghetto?
Tank is a singer/ producer so he did the track and wrote the song. I recorded that in about 45 minutes because I was so excited and I remember all the harmonies just came to me in seconds. I remember afterwards another writer on the album, knows Snoop and called him to get on the record. Snoop was like ‘Send it to me cousin, lets do this.’ He’s so cool and he did it, like two weeks later. He’s amazing. I met him before in passing and I’ve loved Snoop since Doggystyle. People don’t picture me as a ‘rolling down the street, smoking indo and sipping on gin and juice type’ of girl, but that was one of the hottest records to me.
You’re pretty quiet on the scandal front… Because my parents would kick my butt! My best friends would kick my butt. Oh definitely, they don’t play that. They look out for me like even if I were to come home and my nose is too high in the air, my best friend would be like “Come here” like a mother, you know what I mean and I think that that’s true love, when somebody really wants to have your best interests so I only keep those kind of people around me. It’s very important because when you just have yes people around you it makes your whole world just blurry and you start thinking that it’s all about you and it’s not about me, it’s so many people that contribute to my success, it’s not just me. Yeah you make the music, but who puts it out, who works hard, you know what I mean, it’s everybody, it’s a whole team that makes you happen.
Talking of fam – did you work with Solange on this record?
Solange wrote this amazing song for me called Love and I sent her the music, and 35/ 40 minutes later I recorded it. Solange has been writing songs like it’s been going out of style. She’s amazing – she’s a new album coming out. I don’t know when it’s due, but it’s like this…I don’t even want to say what kind of sound it is cause only she knows, but it’s awesome, I’m so proud of her.
So back to Ms Kelly, will it be more R&B then Simply Deep?
Yes, I wouldn’t say, erm, a little bit, just a little bit but I don’t want to put music in a box. That’s my thing. A lot of people were like, ‘this album is not alternative or pop like your last record.’ Pop is a broken down word for popular and I want my records to be popular but it just happens to have a little thump to it - pop with a thump.
Do you feel, in terms of your career, do you feel you’ve gotten your credit?
Definitely. I feel like I’ve gotten my credit. I feel like some people wouldn’t want to give me my credit, but it’s life and it happens and I’m not about to prove myself to anybody. I love music, I love singing and I’m gonna do it until I’m sick of it. I’m not worried about people because opinions are like buttholes, everyone’s got one and people are gonna talk and when people stop talking that’s when you worry so I’m not worried.
You’ve worked with a lot of big names on this album. Is there anyone you didn’t get a chance to work with?
I really wanted to work with Timbaland and Robin Thicke. I played Robin Thicke’s album from front to back. I actually met up with him and the funny thing is he played me Lost Without You and I played him a song of mine and when I heard it I said “You mark my words, that song is a hit” and he probably doesn’t remember that but I was like “You mark my words, that song is crazy” and he was like “thank you. I sure hope it does” I said “Oh, it will” and it did.
Why did you change your album title to Ms Kelly?
I felt like the first title fitted the first draft of the album so when I did the second draft of the record, I felt like Ms Kelly had more sass to it so I felt like that fit the album perfectly!
The industries full of talented R&B stars, such as Ciara and Amerie. Do you ever worry about competition?
I don’t worry about the competition at all. I’m not being cocky, but I know I put together a great record. I’m very excited about it; my management, my fans and my label are all behind me. I’m not those girls – I’m not Ciara, I’m not Amerie, I’m Kelly Rowland and Kelly Rowland brings a different flair to music. A lot of people have been waiting for this record so I’m excited to be releasing it, and that’s all that counts. I don’t think about the competition or the pressure – there’s room for everybody. I have a very laid-back party vibe with my record. It’s also very real – very real. Like I said, I allowed myself to be vulnerable on this record.
What advice would you give to younger girls in the game?
Ultimatley I would tell them to forget what other people say because it’s so easy to get caught up in the mess. It’s so easy to get caught up in the ruckus of the record industry but this industry will eat you up and spit you out. It’s some important to know where you come from and who you are, above anything – not even as an artist, but as a woman. You have to have values and morals and bring that to the industry because so many other chicks need it! You got to spread it around! You can’t let that industry get to you, because as quickly as it’s given to you, it can be taken away. Or you could destroy it yourself and that’s the worse feeling. You don’t want to mess it all up yourself.
There’s been a lot of rumour about a Destiny’s Child reunion. Is there any chance you’ll get back together?
I don’t know, we’ll see. We’ll see. (laughs) I’d like to it would be fun. To be able to travel together again because it was so much fun. But at the same time, it’s time for growth and it’s time for change. It must take place, and it’s taking place for all of us right now.
Finally, why do I need this record in my life?
This album for me is like a change, a great turn in my life and I want every woman to feel it. I wanted to say thigns that sometime we don’t wanna say. Buut it’s ok to be vulnerable, it’s ok to open up , to cry, to party. It’s very emotion you can think of in this record – you can cry, dance, shoot the crap with your grilfreinds with this record. You can put it on and let it play. Wel, for me it’s like that. I’m so proud of it. If it doesn’t sell a unit, I’m proud of it and I put my all into it and I plan to do that with every single Kelly Rowland album.
Ms Kelly is out on June 25th! The lead single Like This featuring Eve is out on June 11th.
